      I give them fresh meat from the age of 12 weeks. It is " for human consumption " approved so no nasty things are in the meat. If she is nippy, ignore and turn your back to her. She aventually will get that nipping is a nono.. 😊💫 I always ignore bad behaviour and encourage the good. Like... if he bites in my slipper, I replace it for a chewrope..

    I'm not sure if I ever commented here. This is a very well thought out and designed enclosure. I really wish I had the know-how and space to do this. I have some beautiful naturalistic caging, but it is nowhere near the square footage of this. I prefer semi arboreal snakes to the mostly terrestrial types like this, but you certainly have done a solid job here. When properly researched properly and cared for these can be decent pets, but it is important to know the biology, habits and adult size of these animals. Added to that, you need to prepare for the longevity of an animal like this. When they say NOT good pets, I'm assuming it is to dissuade the folks that "see and want" a snake like this without fully being aware of the commitment. Well done with the music, the enclosure and the video. I hope you still have this animal and it is thriving!

    Hello i am curious on the Burmese python i have two royal pythons and am curious on moving to the Burmese. I am in a small apartment and was curious if i kept one ( do not have one yet) in a 6' x 3' terrarium would it stay to the point to were it cant over power me or do they keep growing ?

    • @SuperSnaky
      @SuperSnaky 8 років тому

      They will grow until they die... depending on how much you feed them they grow faster or slower.. Burms should not be kept hungry ;) Good luck !

      If you want to move up to a larger species I would recommend something Like a carpet python, great snakes, they get to a reasonable length and are about as thick as an adult mans arm. Great intermediate snake, seeing as the Burm can get out of hand quite fast if you dont have the space

      If you have the know how, the time, the space, and the money then what is stopping them? While I'm all for idiots not owning high or even low maintenance pets, this looks to be quite to opposite, If the Snakes healthy and situated then there shouldnt be any problem what so ever

    Great enclosure Any pointers ? My burm is outgrowing her enclosure I built last year I keep trying to find ways to make it more manageable for maintenance. Check out my video to see what she's in now ;)

  • @snakesn40ozs92
    @snakesn40ozs92 9 років тому

    If you are going to keep a Burm, it should definitely be done like this. I am a snake enthusiast but agree as well that this species is not a pet and if kept as one, it should be in an enclosure as the one shown. Many people are fighting for the rights to keep this species but I want to see the percentage of owners that actually keep these specimens beyond five years. Most of these poor animals end up in Zoos which already have more than they know what to do with because of the pet trade.

    • @SuperSnaky
      @SuperSnaky 9 років тому

      Thanks, my point exactly..

    • @sultanjumper
      @sultanjumper 9 років тому

      I partially agree, but not all of us have the money or time to construct or buy something like this when we, as experienced keepers, know that they can live happily in big vivariums. All that matters is that the animal has enough room to feed, move around and grow, colourful aesthetics mean nothing to them, they are just pleasing for us to look at. A setup like this is unnecessary, but still amazing and impressive and I'm sure the animal is happy in there.

    • @SuperSnaky
      @SuperSnaky 9 років тому

      Yes, I agree, although they need room and lots of water, Indeed the decorations mean nothing to them, but is better looking than a bare tank :) A lot of enclosures I see are smaller of setup, and the animals do great in there also.. They just need to stretch more so to say..

    • @ericr154
      @ericr154 9 років тому

      +sultanjumper. To me it still looks like the poor thing is looking for a way out... You have to figure these animals are used to the vast jungle in the wild. Any enclosure would be too small for such a big creature. Personally, owning I red tail boa, I feel bad sometimes to think that they live thier lives are pretty much confined.

    • @sultanjumper
      @sultanjumper 9 років тому

      Eric Rodriguez I somewhat agree with you, but as captive bred and born snakes have never seen a jungle and have instead grown on with humans, they are used to their surroundings and are far less aggressive than wild caught animals. Snakes do like small secluded places but will always try to explore and find ways out. it's not as if they are thinking "Oh I could be in Burma with all my mates"
